Planting hedgerow

Some of you maybe wondering why have I not written anything for a while. We were advised that it may look presumptive to the planners, to have a blog/website already, by our consultant. I did point out that I was far from being presumptive and more just wanted to keep our friends informed on how our project was developing! Anyway I decided to follow his advise just in case but I couldn’t resist showing you all a picture of the hedgerow that we have planted. Guy and I are not the quickest of planters and it’s taken us weeks! We read somewhere that an amateur should be able to plant 200 per day – well Guy and I barely do 100 in one day together! Still it’s very therapeutic work – not so good for the back though.

Not a spare minute!

I know I have been rather remiss at writing any blogs, tweets, and Facebook comments but we have not had a moments free time! The lounge, study, kitchen, and bathroom are almost finished. We have got most of the important items of furniture, though we need many more. Buying secondhand is time consuming but satisfying! Preloved and Gumtree being my favourite websites.
We met up with our consultant last week and the decision is that we are going to investigate full planning first before we look at going for a CCL (caravan and camping listed) site. This will take much longer but has more potential. We also run the risk of being rejected! Still I firmly believe that we can run an environmentally and community friendly site.

Soon to be proud owners of The Croft!

Well, the day that we have been waiting for is soon to be upon us. We complete on The Croft, The Green, Ubbeston, Halesworth IP19 0HB tomorrow.
We have already bought cleaning equipment to give the whole place a clean, and then a lick of paint. We have already bought a bed for Guy and I, a bed for Ella, a kitchen table with six chairs, a conservatory suite and two three-seater sofa’s for the lounge. The other items we urgently need in the next few weeks are a bed for Jake, and a fridge, freezer, washing machine, tv and I suppose somewhere to put all our clothes!
I hope to get all this sorted and also put in our application to Camping and Caravanning before Christmas. A busy few weeks ahead!

Delayed!

Well we didn’t exchange today. The people that own the place that our vendors are moving into are not ready to move until Monday 9th! I’ve just arranged a holiday let for a week which will give us a few days to clean and get the place ready. At least it wasn’t us holding it all up!

Home insurance

The day has been spent looking at home insurance – both building and contents. It’s a complicated business looking for the best value as you are usually not comparing like with like! This is further complicated by the fact that about 35% of the house was built in the 1700’s, and that we are hoping to open a campsite on the land.
Anyway once we have sorted this out we are full steam ahead to exchange on Friday. (I know you have heard me say that before, but keep your fingers crossed everyone).

Feeling a bit frustrated!

Still haven’t got a date for exchange. Guy has just spoken to the solicitor (only just got hold of him after trying for a couple of days) to find out that he still hasn’t sent the searches onto the bank and it will take 10 days from there apparently. Looks like we will be moving into the campervan on the 6th December. Valley Farm have rented out The Lodge for that weekend.
